Tim tracks wireless markets and technologies, contributing to both Heavy Reading Mobile Networks Insider and Heavy Reading Cable Industry Insider. He began covering wireless technology in 1998 as a staff writer, and subsequently technology editor, at Wireless Review, where he wrote about RF and SS7 engineering. In August 2000, he joined The Net Economy, where he covered the technology and business strategy behind cellular/PCS, LMDS, MMDS, free-space optics, and 802.11.
As an independent analyst, Tim covered the wireless industry for firms such as Current Analysis, iGillott Research and Probe Research, as well as for magazines including Laptop, Mobile Enterprise and Tech Edge. He has also authored white papers for several vendors and trade associations on topics such as telemetry, EDGE, over-the-air firmware upgrades and 802.11.
