Enterprise Wireless LAN Price Report
This report includes detailed pricing data on 19 enterprise-grade, standalone access points, 13 appliance/gateway products, 37 wireless switch products, and 18 thin access points from 19 different vendors.

The research shows that some enterprise wireless vendors have so far avoided plunging headlong into the "commodity trap" that has afflicted margins in the low-end consumer market. Ultra-competitive pricing on hardware is, however, pushing the onus onto services and integration to produce a decent blended margin for resellers and integrators.
Sample research data from the report is shown in the excerpts below:
Table of Contents (0105toc.pdf)
Products priced between $600 and $800 per access point deployed will be the "sweet spot" of the enterprise market through 2005. The chart below shows that a large number of such systems (marked red) are available:

Standalone access points have become a commodity, price-led market, in which resellers pass almost all their margin on to the end customer. The following chart shows the difference between list and street prices for standalone access points (no "street price" data is available for Foundry or Nortel, as those companies don't use conventional resellers).
